Luxury bedding producer Shifman Mattress is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its high-end Masters collection by unveiling a new line here with an updated look and enhanced comfort levels.
The new line offers nine different styles to satisfy a variety of comfort preferences and retains its core components of hand-tufted, two-sided mattresses, natural materials and eight-way hand-tied box springs, the company said.
“Over the past 20 years, the Masters collection has become extremely important to Shifman, its dealers, and consumers,” said Bill Hammer, Shifman’s president. “The fact that we do almost 50% of our total dollar business in this category, with prices starting at more than $4,000 for a queen set, exemplifies the tremendous value built into every product. However, the other 50% of the business is done on other product collections that feature more popular price points starting at $799. The combination makes for a successful retail mattress program with an average unit sale that is three times the industry average.”
The covers on the new line combine the strength and durability of a woven product, while still providing a plush surface feel. The complementary borders enhance the modern visual appeal of the line, while still maintaining Shifman’s classic look, officials said.
The line also continues Shifman’s tradition of using the finest quality natural materials, the company said. It is made with natural cotton as its major component, and also uses natural latex foam, Joma wool and angora fiber.
Key details include coordinating specialty tape, gunmetal-colored corner guards and increased border height.
Shifman is also showcasing its Modern Comfort collection and its American Heritage collection at its showroom, located on the second floor at 315 Fred Alexander Place.
The Modern Comfort collection combines premium features such as natural cotton and hand tufting with the flexibility of individually wrapped coil innersprings. These mattresses will be displayed on Shifman PowerMotion adjustable bases in the company’s showroom.
The American Heritage collection consists of nine beds designed to successfully compete with premium products from other brands at large mattress retailers while providing product differentiation in the retail environment, officials said.
“This line is part of our aggressive expansion plan to bring the Shifman difference and its unique story to new markets,” added Tim Wade, Shifman’s national sales manager. “It’s a tremendous opportunity to help large bedding retailers expand their business by offering better quality and customer satisfaction while delivering a higher average unit sale, and increased profitability.”
